September Observances

This September, the City of Goleta wants to note two holidays and cultural observances that take place this month, Labor Day and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Labor Day is always the first Monday in September. It pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. We want to take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication of individuals who have contributed to the well-being of our society.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15. It showcases the diverse cultures, traditions, and histories of Hispanic and Latino families in the US.

The City is excited to once again partner with the Greater Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to host the Mexican Independence Day Festival in Old Town Goleta. This special event will take place at the Goleta Community Center (5679 Hollister Avenue) on Saturday, September 14. The celebration will feature live music, dancing and performances, delicious Latin cuisine food, and more. We hope to see you there.

The City of Goleta encourages you to learn about diverse holidays and observations year-round to help create a warm and welcoming community for all.
