Thanks to Everyone Who Attended Coffee and Community at Ice in Paradise
A summer “Iced Coffee and Community” event drew a great turnout of about 50 people to the Rinkside Café patio this past Saturday, August 29, 2026. With the warm weather, the cold coffee option was a popular choice, especially served alongside snow cone cups filled with doughnut holes. Thanks to Ice in Paradise Skating Rink for being generous hosts for the City’s 3rd Coffee and Community event of the year, this time in District 4 with Councilmember Stuart Kasdin and Mayor Paula Perotte. Also in attendance were Santa Barbara County 3rd District Supervisor Joan Hartmann, Santa Barbara Airport Director Chris Hastert, Goleta’s Chief of Police Services Lt. Jarrett Morris, City Manager Robert Nisbet, Assistant City Manager Jaime Valdez and Planning and Environmental Review Director Peter Imhof.
Councilmember Stuart Kasdin said, “It was a really valuable opportunity for us to hear the community’s concerns and share possible solutions to some of the issues most affecting western Goleta.”
Mayor Paula Perotte said “I am always so happy to see everyone who shows up and talks with us at our Coffee and Community events. These informal gatherings held throughout the year in each of our four districts provide a great space for the public to ask questions and get to know us better.”
Councilmember Kasdin welcomed attendees and updates were provided on topics of interest to the community and then there was a time for questions.
The discussion included airport noise, the cost of housing, upcoming housing development, the Ellwood Onshore Facility, the regulation of firearm and ammunition retail sales, e-bikes, the Goleta Train Station, the status of Fire Station 10 and improved routes for bicyclists and pedestrians.
The City’s final Coffee and Community event of the year will be held in District 3. Details to be announced soon.
