Thousands of library materials were returned last month as young leisure readers (and their parents/caregivers) get back into school routines. Our staff have noticed a big increase in foot traffic at Goleta Valley Library Express as well, with individuals of all ages browsing our collections of books, DVDs, audiobooks, Library of Things, and Seed Library.

It’s a great time to check out our passes to the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, MOXI Museum, and California State Parks. Call us at 805-964-7878 or check our online catalog to get on the waitlist for these popular items.

Skate into the school year with some cool reads! Join Bookvan for a special Sunday stop at the skating rink. First Sunday of the month skating is free with a library card! $5 skate rental fee not included.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Party
Saturday, September 12, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Stow Grove Park
Come and celebrate the amazing accomplishment of reading 1,000 Books before Kindergarten with a story, some crafts, singing, and dancing. Certificates will be awarded to our families who have completed the program. Learn about the program and sign up for your first log! Bring your beach chairs or picnic blanket to sit on. For children under 5 and their families.

Creek Week Art Contest Reception

You are invited to explore this year’s magical gallery, “Story Beneath the Surface: Art Inspired by our Creeks, Oceans, and Watersheds.” Winners will be announced and music will be provided by The Swing Along Band.

Art in the Park

Come relax in the park and create art.  We will be making collage and blackout poetry in a low stress environment. This is a free event and all materials will be provided.
