It’s High Fire Season and a great time for local fire officials, law enforcement, and other public safety agencies to hold a South Coast Community Wildfire Preparedness Meeting. The goal of the June 15th meeting was to inform and educate the public about wildfires and outline actions can take now to prepare, including home hardening and personal preparedness strategies.
Fire officials provided updates on the state’s snowpack, this past year’s rainfall, and practical Zone Zero home‑hardening measures residents can implement. Law enforcement representatives discussed protective actions (Shelter in place, Evacuation Warning, Evacuation Order, and Advisory) that may be taken during an incident and what these actions mean for the community.
Presenters also highlighted the one‑year anniversary of the Regional Fire Communications Center (RFCC), noting its impact on daily operations and large‑scale mutual aid responses. Finally, officials reviewed the various communication pathways available for receiving alerts and accessing information during an incident.
To hear more about these topics, you can view the PowerPoint presentation here. A recording of the presentation will be available soon.
