The City of Goleta is celebrating Parks and Recreation Month this July with ideas for free or low cost activities to participate in each day of the month. Check out the calendar of activities available after June 20th at www.cityofgoleta.org, or sign up at http://tinyurl.com/goletasubscriptions to have it delivered to your inbox. Started in 1985, Parks and Recreation Month highlights the vital and powerful role that local parks and recreation play in conservation, health and wellness and social equity efforts in communities across the country. This year, residents are encouraged to discover the power of play at local parks and recreation facilities by joining friends on the playground or learning a new sport like pickleball, now available at the Evergreen tennis courts. The City of Goleta, along with the National Parks and Recreation Association, encourages everyone to get out there to experience the power of play, no matter your age or ability.
