Hundreds of Residents Provide Input to Help Shape Goleta’s Transportation Improvementst

The City of Goleta’s Public Works Department successfully completed its Street Talk community engagement initiative, engaging hundreds of residents through a combination of an online survey and in-person and virtual open houses.

Launched in early March, Street Talk was designed to gather input on key transportation topics, including traffic safety, roadway conditions, and funding priorities. The effort provided multiple ways for the community to participate, ensuring broad and inclusive engagement.

More than 660 community members completed the Street Talk survey, while nearly 40 attended the in-person and virtual open houses, demonstrating strong community interest in transportation issues across Goleta.

Community members shared valuable feedback on transportation priorities during Street Talk. Common topics included speeding, intersection safety, pedestrian and bicycle connections, and the safe use of e-bikes and e-scooters. Participants identified pavement improvements as the highest funding priority and expressed support for enhanced crosswalks, bicycle facilities, lighting, and other transportation safety improvements.

The Public Works Department will use the feedback to help guide upcoming work plans and future transportation investments.
